Coach
Coaching is not just part of sports as often associated with. Part of leadership is helping employees in your company, as well as others around you in other organizational or group settings, become better at how they perform in order to achieve both organizational and personal success. I believe in taking an active role in not only educating, training, and providing advice to others, but also in passing on my knowledge, skills, expertise, and best practices to others, especially to the next generation of leaders and managers.
In all my leadership positions, I have paid much attention to the skills and career development needs of my employees. Being a good listener as well as using formal performance evaluations, employee development discussions, and informal meetings with individuals provide with constant opportunities to address development needs and future plans in a positive way. In organizations, active personal coaching by managers leads to improved employee morale, job satisfaction, and thus, increases individual, team, and organizational productivity.
That said, I have found personal satisfaction in coaching sports. I coached my daughter's soccer and son's hockey teams for twelve years. Hockey is my passion and in which I am a trained coach. As a youth hockey head coach, not only do I teach players the game with valuable life lessons in work ethics, team building, and sportsmanship, but I also lead a team organization of 30-40 players and parent volunteers. My hockey coaching credentials include:
In addition, I have volunteered coaching with the Montgomery Cheetahs Hockey Club which is part of American Special Hockey Association helping children with developmental disabilities.
